No one expected Jacob Wysocki’s rant “You Are a Regular Guy” from the comedy improv show Dropout Make Noise to go viral, let alone Wysocki himself.
The clip comes from Make Noise season 4, episode 4, “Zunk, Junk, and Dunk,” which premiered on Dropout.tv on November 24, 2025. Hosted by Sam Reich, the game show gives three comedians various prompts, and they take turns improvising monologues, scenes, and quips in response. In one memorable segment, Wysocki and fellow contestants Zac Oyama and Devin Field took turns trying to play the Renaissance-era Hümmelchen bagpipes. Wysocki shines as the best musician of the group, absolutely crushing those pipes.
One of the final clues from this episode is, “This Daily Affirmation is a Little Off the Way.” The three provide some truly disturbing and hilarious examples, but Wysocki steals the episode with a frenetic and loud rant with the refrain “You’re a regular guy!”
“Wow!” host Sam Reich said in response. “I found that very inspiring.”
The internet generally agrees. In the following weeks, the content exploded on TikTok, racking up hundreds of thousands of views and likes. There are remixes, guitar riffs, and entire songs written about it. Australian singer Montaigne turned the rant into an original song during a two-and-a-half-hour livestream in early December.
One real highlight amidst the noise is a TikTok video with a clip from it Heated Rivalry features Shane Hollander (Hudson Williams) doing ordinary things such as entering a room or space, making a transaction, answering the phone, sleeping, waking up, etc.
In the sidebar during the interview discussion happy landDimension series 20 new actual games hosted by Brennan Lee Mulligan, Wysocki tells Polygon what prompted it Make Noise affirmation — and her surprise when she saw it explode across the internet in the months that followed.
“I’m just riffing hard, man,” he said. “Look, man, if you give me a few dollars, you give me orders, I work hard. That’s how it works. Then I go home and smoke.”
Is he playing a Dimension 20 his character in a post-apocalyptic wasteland or reacting in real-time to unexpected requests, Wysocki says those moments stem from how much he listens to the people around him. His comedy, he explains, lives in the space between performers as he catches the rhythm of the room, responds honestly, and trusts that everyone will carry it along.
“Every once in a while, you just come across a stream that other people are riding,” he said. “And I just found the slipstream.”
“That’s your magic,” he added happy land costar Oscar Montoya. “You resonate with everything and everyone. And I think that comes from the absolute honesty that people hold dear.”
Where exactly to do that Make Noise affirmation comes from? Is it really just a riff? The answer is complicated.
“I’ve had to tell myself many times in my life that I’m a regular guy,” Wysocki said. “‘Just get in there,’ you know? It always comes from a place of honesty. All I had was a drive, and suddenly there was an Instagram account posting about it every day.”
The Instagram account youarearegularguy.daily posts Wysocki’s affirmations every day, and has close to 10,000 followers. “It’s amazing,” Wysocki said. “I’m very proud to be able to leverage this in the data center. And I think that’s really important.”
For now, Wysocki fans can watch the comedian in action at Dimension 20: Happy Landin which he plays the “snorlaxian” and “totorian” giant Kokomo, part of a crew tasked with delivering thank-you letters to blood donors in a post-apocalyptic wasteland.
