About Cabbage Potato Carrots (Wat Atakilt)
I have started doing a series like ‘Solo Cooking’ or ‘Cooking My Favorite’ after our Japanese trip. The idea behind this series is to issue all the recipes and flavors that we try. I have posted several recipes such as Kare Pan (chicken curry doll bread), Injera (Flatbread Ethiopia), Doro Wat (chicken stew) and to that list today I will share the Wat Atakilt recipe.
Atakilt Wat is a warm and comfortable ethiopian vegetable stew made with cabbage, potatoes, and carrots. Vegetables are cooked until soft, soft and mixed with special spices called berere. Full of stew, perfect for dinner and can be made in 30 minutes. Enjoy the taste of Ethiopia with this easy and delicious vegetable recipe.
Atakilt Wat is very similar to Kootu or Stew of South Indian vegetables, but the only difference is the spices of Ethiopia. This is more dry vegetable stew, where vegetables are cooked with minimal water, and on the other side of the Indian vegetable stew will be thicker and use coconut milk or coconut paste. Atakilt is served with Injera (Flatbread Ethiopia), while Indian or Kootu stew is served with rice, bread, appam, idiyappam. Atakilt Wat is an easy recipe for trying other dishes with the comfort of your home kitchen.
Every spoonful of Wat Atakilt with Injera reminds me of the experience we have in Ethiopia restaurants during our Japanese trip. The whole experience of Injera plates is very close to my heart!
