With the official announcement of new DLC for The Witcher 3, Titled Songs of the Past, fans of this hugely successful RPG must be wondering when the expansion will take place in the timeline. The answer is more complicated than it seems: We don’t just have to consider multiple endings The Witch 3 and what we know about the future The Witch 4but also how the game interacts with the events that occur in the short stories and novels written by Andrzej Sapkowski.
When CD Projekt Red acquired the license to make The Witcher games, Sapkowski had already finished telling Geralt’s story: the final of the five-book series was published in Poland in 1999, eight years before the first series. The Witch game out. By holding all three games after the pentalogy ended, CD Projekt Red was able to weave an original story that did not directly contradict Sapkowski’s work. However, in the third game, things become more complicated because of the presence of Ciri.
Cirilla of Cintra is a key character in the books: Although Geralt’s charisma makes him the face of the franchise, the pentalogy actually revolves around Ciri’s journey. At the end of the saga, as told in Lady of the LakeGeralt and Yennefer depart for an unknown land where they are supposed to live happily ever after, while Ciri travels to another world where she joins King Arthur’s court in Camelot. The Witch 3 picks up when the girl returns to her original world, using the Wild Hunt as a plot device to explain Ciri’s absence and Geralt’s amnesia, and to set up the main conflict in the story.
At the end The Witch 3Ciri stops White Frost from destroying the world. Considering he appeared as the main character in The Witch 4we can assume that the canon ending is where he survives and becomes a Witcher like Geralt. So, what does all this mean for this new DLC, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Songs of the Past?
The easiest answer is that this expansion could be a bridge between the two The Witch 3 and the upcoming fourth series, but Ciri’s presence in the DLC is unlikely, considering she is the protagonist of The Witch 4. Many The Witch 3 revolves around the interactions between Geralt and Ciri, and with Geralt confirmed to appear The Witch 4we can also expect a lot of assistance in the game. To stand out, Songs of the Past could have taken a different path and just focused on Geralt.
Granted, the DLC’s title suggests that this may be a story from Geralt’s past, meaning CD Projekt Red is taking a page from Sapkowski’s book.
The Polish author actually wrote two more books set in The Witcher universe after that Lady of the Lakeeven though both are prequels. Hurricane Season set among the short stories in the first book of the series, Last Wishwhen Crow Junction depicts Geralt shortly after he completes his training as a Witcher. Songs of the Past could take a similar approach and take players to an earlier time in Geralt’s life. In this case, the DLC will be launched directly from the game’s main menu, an option already available Blood and Wine.
That seems unlikely Songs of the Past will be a direct adaptation of the story told in it Hurricane Season or Crow Junction. CD Projekt Red has always preferred to tell its own stories, and its relationship with Sapkowski has been somewhat rocky, considering the author sued the company in 2018 to get royalty payments, despite selling the video game rights for a lump sum.
Alternatively, the “past” of the title does not have to be taken literally. Rather than setting the DLC early in Geralt’s life, perhaps this expansion will take place several years after the end of Geralt’s life. The Witch 3same as Blood and Wineand brings back threats from Geralt’s past. Considering men’s professions, there are many options.
Vilgefortz, evil sorcerer and leader of the Brotherhood of Sorcerers, would be a perfect candidate. He is the main antagonist in the book and is killed Lady of the Lakebut we’ve seen supposedly dead characters reappear in the books. The vampire Regis, for example, appears in Blood and Wineand he is killed in the book by Vilgefortz himself, marking an interesting potential connection between the two DLCs.
As for new locations to explore, there are still many important areas in the world of The Witcher that have yet to appear in the game. Big candidates could be Nilfgaard, Cintra, and even the exotic land of Zerrikania. With Kovir as the backdrop The Witch 4it can be assumed this northernmost kingdom will not appear in the DLC.
Own Songs of the Past taking place during Geralt’s early years as a Witcher would be the most original choice. On the other hand, Blood and Wine was hugely successful, so it’s possible that CD Projekt Red will choose to double down and prepare new DLC a few years after the end The Witch 3. Maybe they’ll also insert a little tease The Witch 4 in the story. No matter what, when, or where, I would happily set foot in the world of The Witcher again.

PakarPBN
A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm. Since Google views backlinks as signals of authority and trust, some website owners attempt to artificially create these signals through a controlled network of sites.
In a typical PBN setup, the owner acquires expired or aged domains that already have existing authority, backlinks, and history. These domains are rebuilt with new content and hosted separately, often using different IP addresses, hosting providers, themes, and ownership details to make them appear unrelated. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. By doing this, the owner attempts to pass link equity (also known as “link juice”) from the PBN sites to the target website.
The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
