Sonoran beef taco can not be easier to make – and they are always hit when dinner. Beef slowly boiled in rich and scented sauce made with onions, garlic, spices, tomatoes, and beef broth. After being soft, it was torn and served on a corn tortilla with a new mexico hatch chili sauce – nodded to the traditional barbacoa of Mexico. Slow cooker instructions are also included.

What is Sonoran?
Sonoran refers to matters originating from or related to the Sonoran Desert region, which includes the parts of the South Arizona, Southeast California, and West Mexico (especially the State of Sonora Mexico, from which the name comes from).
In food terms:
When you hear “Sonoran” In connection with cooking, it usually means:
- Sonoran -style Mexican food, which is different from other regional styles in Mexico.
- Common dishes in northern Mexican countries (especially Sonora) and Southwest US, especially Arizona.
Characteristics of Sonoran Key Food:
- Tortilla flour is not corn (large, soft, and frequent handmade).
- Roast meat, especially carne Asada and Machaca (dried torn beef).
- Sonoran Hot Dog – Famous street food from Hermosillo, Sonora, wrapped in bacon and loaded with toppings.

Taco Sonoran Beef – Step by Step

Mix ancho chili powder, smoke paprika, cumin and salt.
Rub the spice mixture in all pieces of beef grilled meat.


Beef chocolate on all sides. Remove from the pan.
For the same pan, saute onions and garlic until the onion is soft.


Add the diced tomato to the onion and garlic and stir.
Stir the beef broth to the onion, garlic and tomatoes.


Add beef back to the pan, cover and bring to a boil for 2 hours.
Chef potatoes: Cut the beef into 5 large pieces, it will be cooked faster and also fits in the pan.
Use 2 fork to tear beef.

Slow cooker beef
Or, for convenience, you can cook beef in slow cooker. Just follow the recipe to step 4 and instead of adding beef back to the pan, move everything to the slow cooker heated. Cook high for 3-4 hours or low for 6-7 hours.
Instant pot option
Follow the recipe to step 4 (add beef back to the pot). Adjust the instant pan to press cooking and cooking height for 60-80 minutes.

Ingredients

2 pounds (1 kg) Chuck beef grilled, cut into 5 large parts

3 tablespoons of vegetable oil

1 ½ cup (192 grams) yellow onion, chopped

3 cloves of garlic, peeled and chopped

14 ounces (397 grams) Tomato Cut Dice

2 cups (472 ml) beef stock/broth (low sodium) * see notes

1 tablespoon of corn flour
Instruction
- Mix ancho chili powder, smoke paprika, cumin and salt. Rub the entire beef.
- Add vegetable oil to a heavy pan and heat it over medium-high heat. Chocolate pieces of beef on all sides, remove from the pan.
- To the same pan add onions, stir -fry until they begin to soften. Add garlic and cook 1 minute. Add diced tomatoes and beef stock.
- Return beef back to the pan and submerged in a liquid, bring to a boil. Cover and boil for 2 hours. The meat is ready when it is easy to separate from the fork.
- Remove the meat from the pan to the shallow bowl. Add a little pan juice and use 2 fork to tear -Robek. Add more pan juice because you prefer to moisturize meat.
- Strain the pan juice through the filter into the pan and boil.
- Mix corn flour with 1 tablespoon of water until dissolved. Stir the corn flour mixture into the pan juice, bring to a boil until it thickens. Serve as a sauce for taco.
Slow Cooker Method:
- Just follow the recipe to step 4 and instead of adding beef back to the pan, move everything to the slow cooker heated. Cook high for 3-4 hours or low for 6-7 hours.
Notes
* Taste your broth, if salty, you might need to adjust the amount of salt in the dish.
