Sweet basil seed drink
I always think of basil seeds / sabja seeds as fallenis seeds. But I can’t find it in my super market. Last month when I went to Chennai and had the opportunity to visit the bean shop and spices, I was very happy to see the seeds there. I immediately bought a package. So many are investigated about this seed and realize the nature of their medicine, now I use it in most of my drinks and likes it. I haven’t tried the famous Royal Faloodode recipe.

FAQ
How long do I have to soak sabja seeds?
About 10-15 minutes in water is enough. They will expand and get a good jelly coat. If they are still crispy inside, let them sit a little longer.
Can I use chia seeds instead?
You can, but the texture is a little different. Chia takes longer to soak and feels a little heavier. Sabja is faster and has a lighter and more slippery feel.
Is this drink good for health?
At all! It’s good to cool your body, help digestion, and even make you feel full longer – so it’s good as a light snack too.
Can I make this first?
Yes, but the best is to keep the lemon mixture and wet seeds separate. Mix fresh when served, so the taste remains bright and fresh.
Why does my drink sometimes feel bitter?
Maybe adding lemon juice to hot sugar syrup. Always let the syrup cold completely before mixed with lemon, it feels clean.
How do you make it less sweet or sharper?
Super easy, adjust sugar and lemon to your liking. There are no fixed rules here. I usually feel and change when I leave.
Can I add another taste to it?
Yes! You can throw rose water, mint, splashing orange juice, whatever you like. This is a flexible drink, so play with it!
