So here we are Ladies and Lord -Tuan, the last step in the series nine parts of me in “Creating Cat Perfect Jobs”: Fit and Finish. For those of you who have read each of the eight previous posts and you must be prepared to overcome this last step there is no problem. For those of you who haven’t, you might want to return to the first step and take it from there. You don’t want to cut the angle.
Get compatibility and complete
It’s a long way to go, a lot of time and energy has been spent. Now is the time to slow down and take your sweet time with assembly. This is the time to order weather stripping; Some of my favorite are Steele Rubber and specialization of restoration. It is very important to buy high quality weather stripping. This will save you from headaches that come using aftermarket weather stripping, so that paying to use good items.
Gather your hardware
Preparing Final Fit and Finish – It is important to prepare all your hardware. Fast tip: If you have a rusty old bolt, nut, washing machine, and the like, go to the home depot and take the muriatic acid case in the pool. Soak all your steel hardware overnight. For each aluminum piece, I will only do a fast dip, because these things run like butter.
When finished, your hardware will be clean and rust free. As soon as I remove my hardware from my acid, then apply WD40 to protect it which also helps installation. Whatever tools I use, screwdrivers, pliers, locks, whatever – I wrap the edges with tape to help prevent scratches from fast slip, etc.
Get soundproof
The next step depends on if you delete the interior; If you do this, I highly recommend installing the sound examination material.

There are several products to choose and myself, like Dynamat Xtreme, you cannot beat the quality. There are some lower products out there, but you get what you pay.
Install the headliner
After the soundproof enters, it’s time to install the headliner before the windshield and front rear enters. Most vintage vehicles need headliners first, this is because it is wrapped around the window frame because the windshield rubber keeps it tight and safe.

As for your chrome, now is the time to get it out and make sure you have everything you need. Make sure you have a clip, everything is ready before you start. If you decide to leave an old chrome or stainless, you can get ultra-Halus steel wool and light rub compounds to turn on the pieces to revive.

People from you who have joined this series know my spell always to “take time” and the steps of fit and finish are no exception. You have worked very hard to get here and it’s time to slow down and enjoy the last clip to the finish line.

If not, you might want to return and determine where you are wrong and apply the lesson at the next time you handle a project like that.
