Welcome back everything! This month we finally reached the actual paint process. I know there are many preparations, but if “80% of success appears” as stated by Woody Allen and you want a paint job that you can be proud of, it is important to take every step and do the best you can.
Paint options
However, before we dive, let’s talk a little about paint. There are several options to choose from – single stage paint, water -based paint, etc. For the purpose of this post we will remain with my favorite: the basic coat of two stages (which is the color) and Clearcoat (which will give the glow) I have done the three, but understand that I can control the process, which for control controls like me is fantastic.
Now, after the car/truck is closed and prepared, we will use the paint booth. Yes, some men have shot outdoors (not named anyone!), But we want to be environmentally friendly. This is also nothing big in the state of California. The last thing you need is a visit from the Environmental Protection Agency!
Prepare your inventory
Okay, so you have to prepare all your supplies. The most important thing is to have a few measuring cups; You can take half a dozen in your local automotive paint inventory. You want to stay away from the eyes and stick to the formula – for what it is!
The first thing I did before I started was a slowdown – spend a few minutes to enter the zone, and say a prayer to the creative gods. I then I came out of the vehicle with a nail cloth using high pressure (55 psi) on my spray gun to make sure to take the last small dust specifications.
Start
Now the vehicle is clean, I have mixed paint with a silencer. There are three types of slow, medium & fast reduction. Reduser is slow to be used when hot, while for light days, and fast for cold days. I wore a paper moon jacket, gloves, and face mask to avoid being tall from smoke.

When I started, I shot the roof first, the highest point, and my pistol pressure was around 20 psi. I in robot mode, I use the old stroke even on the one hand then I will go to the other side and do the same thing. While doing this, I made sure that I watched my paint hose, to make sure it did not leave a trail on my fresh paint.
The coat is light, because I don’t try to cover the primer and I just want to get a basic coat. Read on the paint can during flash time, which is the time between the coat. This is where I always stumble, lose patience and want to be a Mac Daddy and put a heavy coat.

That is a recipe for loose paint! 4 to 7 minutes is the flash time that I set on my cellphone. When the time runs out, I use the second coat, and then I wait again. I began to look for sand signs or pleasure that occurred through paint. If I find something, I take a bucket of water and 1000 sandpaper grit. I use a small rubber flexible block to sandap using the cross hatch method until I am satisfied that the sign is gone.
Clean using a nail cloth, then return to the painting. I work quickly because there is no time to play. Time is essence, and I go to my third coat. Now, I can relax a little because the paint goes smoothly when I hear “Street of Dreams” by The Damned, one of my favorite songs to be painted.

The paint looks good, there are no tiger lines, no run, and even just coats. Now it’s time for a clear coat. I added an activator, and as a little miracle, I added a little fish eraser and a touch of damper. This allows the first clear coat to bite the basic coat.

The pressure on my gun was 35-42 Psi, and once again I started on the roof and down. The first coat once again is a base, so avoid too crazy. This is like foggy (very light coat).
After the first clear coat has been applied, I empty the gun and start again with Clear and Activator. The gun is full and I’m ready to go crazy in a controlled way. Clearly lasted smoothly, so I returned to half a lower space and let it clearly do that.

When it comes to the door, fenders, or other parts of a vertical vehicle; I started the application by starting from the bottom and going up.

I will put 3 or 4 clear thick coats, not worried about the problems I found.

This is because I know that I will clarify at least one coat that I will discuss in the following post. We will also talk about running in a clear place and how to get it out. Look forward to the next tingling steps of the spine, which focuses on sanding and buffing. Until then, hanging.
