Should you choose X or Y in the Special Research ‘An X-ceptional Yarn’?

Note that in this study, you will get a Xerneas or Yveltal with Custom Backgroundsas well as a X or Y themed medalsbased on your choice. Even so, you can (and should, in my opinion) choose the Pokémon you like the most. Whatever you don’t get from this research, you can get it in full from raids during the “Go Tour: Kalos” event.

If you don’t have much time to play during the “Go Tour: Kalos” event, and you want to know what The PvE meta of choice is, it’s Yveltal. Yveltal is a very strong flying type attacker for raids and gyms, and although Xerneas is also a strong fairy type attacker, Yveltal beats it in terms of overall damage per second. That being said, if you need flying type attacker, you should choose Yveltal, and if you need fairy type attacker, you should choose Xerneas.

On the other hand, if you like PvP, Xerneas is a better choiceas it is currently ranked 4th in the Master League rankings. Yveltal is also a decent choice for PvP (sitting at #17 in Master League), but Xerneas is better. That’s the fact.

• Strengthen fairy/dark type Pokémon 10 times (Swirlix/Spritzee encounter)

• Win Mega Raid (6 Rare Candies)

Present: Unknown X/Y encounter, 12 Unknown Candies

If you choose X, you need to strengthen the fairy type, and you will get Swirlix, Clauncher, and Unown

• Strengthen a legendary or mythical Pokémon 6 times (717 Stardust)

• Catch 12 different Pokémon species (717 XP)

• Win a five star raid (6 Rare Candies)

Present: Xerneas/Yveltal Meeting, 12 Xerneas/Yveltal Candy, 6 Xerneas/Yveltal Candy XL

As expected, you’ll get Xerneas and his candy if you choose X, and you’ll get Yveltal and his candy if you choose Y.
