A few days ago when I was cleaning out the refrigerator, I found some parts. I found a jar of homemade candied orange peel. I decided to use it in cakes and hence I made this one.

Ingredients


Flour – You can use half regular flour and half wheat flour. For a healthier version, substitute whole wheat flour.
Butter – to make pound cake, you need a large amount of butter. use unsalted butter in this cake.
Orange peel – This is the main ingredient of the recipe. Rub the bright outer layer of orange peel into the sugar-butter mixture, which will give the mixture a strong, fresh orange aroma.
baking powder: This is the leavening agent used to make cakes rise and make cakes soft and fluffy.
Egg – Eggs are important in this recipe for texture. You can make pound cake without eggs. This is the recipe.
Sugar: Sugar is added to add sweetness and also balance the orange flavor. You can use any sugar such as castor sugar, brown sugar, or sweetened condensed milk.
Yogurt or Sour Cream- Yoghurt or sour cream is added to the cake to make the cake soft and tender.
Candied Orange Peel – I used my homemade orange peel.

Room temperature is key: Store ingredients such as milk, eggs, butter, yogurt and oranges for at least one hour before making. Cold ingredients make the cake tough and dense. When they are soft, they will mix beautifully and make a soft, moist cake.
Grate the skin: Just grate the orange part, because it tastes better than orange juice. Avoid grating the white part, because it will cause a bitter taste.
Test with a toothpick: Once cooked, insert a toothpick in the middle, if it looks clean then the cake is cooked.
Added flavors: Experiment with other flavors like almond extract, coconut extract, or add chopped nuts and chocolate chips for a nutty taste.
Storage & Serving
Store this rich and creamy orange cake at room temperature for 2 to 3 days. If you want to keep it longer, store it covered in the refrigerator for a week. Slice and serve orange pound cake with a cup of hot coffee or tea as an evening snack.

Orange pound cake is a rich, soft and moist cake that is full of fresh orange flavor. This simple cake is made with basic ingredients such as eggs, all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, butter, oranges and homemade candied orange peel. Ingredients
Dry Ingredients (to combine)
- 2 cup All Purpose Flour 240 grams
- ¾ teaspoon baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon Salt
Wet Ingredients
- ¾ cup Unsalted butter 170 grams
- 1¼ cup Sugar 250 grams
- 1 teaspoon Orange peel
- 1 tablespoon Vanilla Extract
- 3 big egg
- â…“ cup Plain Yogurt or Sour Cream 90ml
- ½ cup Milk 120ml
- ½ cup Candied Orange Peel chopped
For Glaze
- 1 cup Confectioner’s Sugar / Icing Sugar
- 2 tablespoon Orange juice
instructions

Preheat the oven to 180 degrees C. Grease a 21x11cm (8½ x 4½ inch) loaf tin well and sprinkle flour on top. You can line it with parchment paper and grease the paper too.

Now in a bowl, take flour, baking powder and salt. stir well and set aside.

Now in a larger bowl, take the butter, sugar, vanilla, orange zest and beat until smooth. Add eggs one by one and beat well. Now add the flour, yogurt and milk mixture and stir gently.

Now add the chopped candied orange peel and fold gently.

Spoon this into the tin and bake for 1 hour. Remove and let cool for 10 minutes in the tin. Transfer to a cooling rack and cool for 15 minutes.

For Glaze, mix icing sugar with orange juice until thick and smooth. Now pour the glaze and leave for 15 minutes. Slice and serve.
